Anli Pollicino granted to us a short interview before their showcase at the Japan Expo.
Hello, could you introduce the person next to you one by one ?
Masatoshi : To my left, the guitarist Takuma. He is the most “negative” person in the band.
Takuma : Next to me, Shindy the singer. There’s no one more beautiful than him.
Shindy : Yo-1. He is a cute and nice baby.
Yo-1 : Kiyozumi the drummer. I think that he is the most mature member of the band, even if he doesn’t really show it…And he loves women !
Kiyozumi : And finally the professor Masatoshi. He likes animes and mangas, I learn many things from him. However, he sneezes in a weird way.
How did you chose the name Anli Pollicino ? What does it represents to you ?
Matasoshi : In Japan, Many bands have names who begins by “GA, GI, GU, GE, GO”, which are strong sounds. We wanted a name with sweet sounds like “PA, PI, PU, PE, PO”. So we chose Polllicino which come from the Italian word “thumb”. We wanted the name to sound like a brand, so the name is Anli Pollicino.
This year, you celebrated the 3 years of the band. If you had to focus on it, did you suceed to do what you wanted ?
Masatoshi : At the beginning it was a little bit chaotic, the band had just been created and we were already leaving for a European tour. And then we put our activities in hiatus. But now we are focused on the future and we’d like our fans to support us in our next projects.
If you had a song from yours to recommend to someone who never listened to your music before, which one would it be ?
Shindy : Recently, we made a cover of a song from the 80s, You Spin Me Round by Dear or Alive. We would recommend this song.
Talking about thing song, it is your first real video clip. How did you lived this experience ? How Anli Pollicino prepared this cover ?
Masatoshi : We wanted to create a video clip that would have been seen anywhere else. It was shot like a parody.
You released Life is Beautiful in an European Version few weeks ago. Can you tell us more about it ? What is the theme of this opus ?
Shindy : Last Tears is a song that was written especially for the European Version of this album. This is the song you must listen to.
How do you usually works for recording an album ?
Masatoshi : Everyone brings an idea, and then we talk about it together and sharing our point of view.
Where, when and how can we find and buy your music ?
Yo-1 : Our first album is already available on iTunes. In August we will release our first album in physical version in Japan.
Do you have a message for our readers ?
